How to finally end emotional eating in 4 simple steps.
If you feel angry, guilty, and full of despair, if you’ve tried hundreds of ways to change your appetite and your appearance, but nothing has permanently worked,
I can help….
The entire weight loss industry says that there is a magic solution to weight loss by swallowing a pill, eating a power food that burns fat or exercise machine that spot burns fat. If you are reading this page, you know it doesn’t work!
Anyone who has ever struggled with losing weight already knows that emotional eating can be one of the biggest hurdles to overcome.
Do you eat too much or too little? Have out-of-control eating binges when you're depressed, bored, or stressed? Rarely enjoy your food or eating?
The reality of long term weight loss comes down to how a person feels about themselves and their world.
In my coaching practice, as a Fit Food Coach, I hear the same negative thoughts over and over that sabotage people’s weight loss efforts:
“My thighs are too fat”
“If I could just follow my diet, I’d be happy”
”There is something wrong with me”
”I’m just addicted to food and eating and it’s hopeless”
”I’ll never stop wanting too much”
”I’m a pig”
”My body is ugly”
”I hate to exercise”
”I’m a member of a gym but I don’t even go, I’m a loser”
"I've been to hours of therapy to find out why I eat, and I still can't stop"...
Junk food will never solve your emotional issues, it will only make them worse.
The foods we have been using to "comfort us" are actually making us even MORE depressed. Processed foods destroys the biochemistry in our bodies, causing low energy, fat-storage and depression.
Here's how it works: The brain makes different hormones that all have a profound effect on your mood. If you don't have high levels of the hormones serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, then it doesn't matter how many self-help books you read or affirmations you say… you are going to feel depressed.
How does your brain make these important “feel good” brain chemicals?
Natural, unprocessed foods are what give us the building blocks to make these chemicals that make our brains healthy and give us a NATURAL high. You will find when you eat less processed foods you will CRAVE less and less sugar and get a NATURAL high and energy from your food.
Your Emotional Eating is actually causing Fat-Storage and Weight Gain
If your brain isn't making its own "feel good" hormones, then it's goes LOOKING for it somewhere else! And that's when you down the pint of ice cream standing at the refrigerator or eat the entire bag of cookies trying to produce that “high”. Unfortunately, what most often happens is you just feel those sugar jitters and then the blues.
What is the BEST way to feel better and have happier moods?
Eat a large salad daily filled with greens like Romaine lettuce, broccoli, spinach, arugula, kale and collard greens. Dark, green vegetables are the precursor to serotonin.
A salad filled with all the colors of the rainbow will mean you are eating foods high in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals is also very good for your brain chemistry and mood. You will feel an elevation in your mood and more WILLPOWER to prevent emotional eating.
So how do you develop a healthy mindset around eating?
Unfortunately, our culture does not demonstrate a healthy mindset about eating. In almost every movie you see, the lead character drowns her emotions in a pint of ice cream after a breakup. Parents reward kids with sweets for “a job well done” or to stop the crying or tantrums.
We learn destructive habits around emotional eating at a very early age and we mask and hide our feelings from ourselves and others.
The problem with masking, hiding, and avoiding these emotions is that the emotions never go away. We become MORE and MORE dependent on "comfort foods" to numb out our pain.
Now there is a long term solution for you!
The great news is that it is possible to stop dieting forever without having to simply “control yourself”, and you can learn to love yourself just the way you are with compassion and forgiveness.
It is possible to feel good right now, and I found this to be the key to ending the compulsive cycle of thinking negatively about weight, eating, diet.
You can learn to:
• STOP wishing for a different body in the future, and beating yourself up for the one you have now.
• STOP trying to eat less and get in touch with your hunger and appetite in the moment.
• Control your eating easily effortlessly and naturally.
• Love exercising and want to constantly improve yourself physically in a way that is enjoyable and fun.
